Bircotes Swimming Club was established in June 2015 by our current Head Coach, Ericka Willis. Ericka saw there was no local outlet for swimmers reaching the end of the learn to swim programme to progress and compete, thus the club was born. It wasn’t long before the club went from the original 4 swimmers to the club running at full capacity.
The home of the club is at Bircotes Leisure centre, located on the border of South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
We are a competitive club and our mission is to provide the opportunity to Swim – Enjoy – Achieve.
Achievements include: Swimmers qualifying to compete at County and Regional level; helping pave the way for 3 swimmers who have gone on to compete at National level; and winning our first Club Top Trophy award early 2020 competing against clubs from Doncaster and the surrounding area. More recently 2 of our swimmers competed at the Open Water Age Group Nationals in August 2022.
As well as the aim of competing the club gives swimmers other opportunities. These include – sponsored swims and triathlons, open water swimming, providing qualifications to become aquatic helpers, and support older swimmers to train as lifeguards and swimming teachers.
